Mr. Paul T. Green, born on April 9, 1935, was a proud native of Fort Payne and will be honored posthumously with the 2023 Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce Legacy Achievement Award. This prestigious award is a recognition bestowed upon Chamber Member businesses that have devoted their lives to both their business endeavors and community service. It serves as a tribute to individuals like Mr. Green who have made a lasting impact through their unwavering dedication to both business and the betterment of the community.

Raised by hard working parents, Arthur and Vinnie Green, in a family of eight siblings, Paul demonstrated resilience and determination from a young age. At the age of 17, Mr. Green enlisted in the United States Navy, dedicating eight years of service. Displaying his entrepreneurial spirit, he ran a loan service for fellow seamen during his naval tenure. Upon completing his service, Paul returned to Fort Payne and began working for Pioneer Homes. Fueled by a strong work ethic and a passion for his field, he, along with his wife Wanda of 56 years, founded Sunset Mobile Homes in 1965.

Throughout his life, Mr. Green achieved significant milestones, leaving an indelible mark on the community. Some of his notable accomplishments include founding and operating his own mobile home dealership for an impressive 60 years, making him the longest-operating mobile home dealer in the state of Alabama at the time of his passing.

Paul’s commitment to excellence earned him prestigious industry awards, culminating in his induction into the Mobile Home Hall of Fame in November 2005. Beyond his professional success, he actively contributed to charitable causes and positively impacted the community. Paul was a dedicated member of Mount Herman Baptist Church and the VFW, reflecting his commitment to service and community welfare. His legacy continues to inspire those who knew him, and his posthumous recognition by the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce is a testament to the lasting impact of his life’s work.
