Fun Things to Do!

Spring is in the air this week, and I am loving walking around downtown with the visions of events dancing through my head. Ok that was little over the top, but you can expect some really fun events beginning in March!

Boom Town Makers Market, a Project of Landmarks, Fort Payne Main Street, and Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce have partnered to bring you Art in the Alley on March 8th from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm in the alley behind the DeKalb Theatre, in the Courtyard, and at Boom Town Makers Market. Festival lights will decorate the alley and you can scoot on down to Vintage 1889 for open mic night afterwards. Art in the Alley will be held monthly, and beginning in April, it will be in conjunction with RadioVizions on the first Thursday of each month. Speaking of RadioVizions, please like them on Facebook and check out the shows. March 1st, RadioVisions will feature “The Songs of Patsy Cline” featuring Clare Donohue. Did I mention, FUN?!

Still looking for more fun? EEK! Can you believe it’s nearly time for Third Saturday Sunset Cruise-In?! Yep, it starts April 21st at 5:00 pm in Fort Payne’s historic downtown district. The Third Saturday Sunset Cruise-In is a great car show, featuring over 200 classic vehicles on display. This is a monthly event starting in April and ending in October. There is a kid zone in the City Park, music across the street from DeKalb Theatre, and great food vendors! Keep up with them on Facebook too.

And there is more…The DeKalb Theatre hosts great shows! We’re so fortunate to have such an amazing venue right here in downtown Fort Payne, with so many well-known and award-winning musicians and other performers. In addition to entertainment DeKalb Theatre is also available for civic functions. If you would like to book an event, contact the DeKalb Theatre at 256.997.0396, and keep up with them on Facebook.

The Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce is still looking for go getters ages 16-35 to join our Rising Leaders of DeKalb group, and we’re still looking for volunteers for our Chamber Ambassador program. Please let us know if you are interested in learning more. Please get involved, and email us at
