“Heroes are ordinary individuals who find the strength and perseverance to endure overwhelming obstacles for a cause that is bigger than themselves.”
Life creates heroes through everyday living or through special service to mankind.
There are so many heroes right here in our community. One special group will be honored through everyone’s efforts.
I encourage you to get involved in the building of the Patriots Memorial Park.
The project originated with the DeKalb County VFW. It became a community mission after a partnership was established with the City of Fort Payne and the DeKalb County Fire and Police Departments.
The purpose of the Park is to honor men and women who have dedicated their lives to protect and serve DeKalb County.
This special group will be recognized for having lost their life or made significant sacrifice to their country and DeKalb County.
We should never forget their sacrifice!
The Patriots Memorial Park committee is soliciting the community to make contributions to the cost of construction. At the same time, companies and individuals will have their name placed on items to commemorate their support.
A special black granite donor memorial will be placed at the entryway to the park for those giving $5000.00 for the Platinum Level; $2,000.00 for the Gold Level; $1000.00 for the Silver Level; and $500.00 for the Bronze level.
You can also purchase a black granite bench for $3,500.00.
A donation of $10,000.00 will insure a sponsorship of one of the Armed Forces memorials.
A personalized brick paver can be purchased for $100.00 for the 4”X 8” or $200.00 for the 8”X 8” brick.
Applications for the various sponsorship levels are available at the Chamber Office or call Charles Stephens at 256-997-6968.
The Patriots Memorial Park will be located on the corner of Fifth Street, North (Highway 35) and Godfrey Avenue.
