“We should be about more than just selling chicken. We should be a part of our customers’ lives and the community in which we serve.” Truett Cathy, owner Chick-fil-a.

Jeff and Kim Hall, franchise owner, will bring Mr. Cathy’s philosophy to our city with the restaurant’s ribbon cutting ceremony on July 13th at 9:30 AM.

Congratulations to Jeff and Kim Hall for obtaining the Fort Payne franchise. They are going to be such a great asset to our community.

Both are so personable that I feel like I have known them forever. Before the restaurant even opens, they have created fund raisers for some of our local charities.

The Cathy’s, owners of Chick-Fil-A, have strong ties to Fort Payne. Truett Cathy purchased Teddy Gentry’s house for a family retreat.

To continue his legacy of concern for the welfare of families and children, the Cathy family donated the house and grounds to the Summit, a haven and training facility for women.

Truett Cathy introduced the chicken sandwich concept to the quick-service industry in 1967. He started his company in Atlanta with a diner called Dwarf Grill.

With a keen business sense combined with a strong work ethic, he created the nation’s largest chicken restaurant chain with more than $5 billion in sales and more than 1,800 locations.

More importantly, Mr. Cathy believed in Proverbs 22:1 which says, “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favor rather than silver and gold.”

His commitment to life was to inspire and challenge young people. He wanted to give them the opportunity they deserved.  He believed that every child can build a better future and become all they were created to be.

His love for young people is witnessed any time you visit a Chick-Fil-A restaurant. I have never encountered a rude remark or action at any franchise.

It would be an honor for any parent for their child to become employed by Chick-Fil-A. Life skills will be a primary gain.

On July 13th, I know I will be saying, “I have never been this excited to get Chick-Fil-A” –and every time I go there after!
