A Good Day!
The Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce held our Annual Awards Banquet last Thursday night. It was held at “The Building,” most may know as the old Coca Cola Building or GH Metal Solutions headquarters at one time. The venue was perfect, and such a great place to hold events. Many thanks to Terry and Regina Locklear who rent The Building for events such as banquets, wedding receptions and socials.
During the Chamber Banquet, we honored Judge David Rains with the V.I. Prewett Lifetime Achievement award, DeKalb Regional Medical Center with the Large Business of the Year award, Wilson & Fiquett, DMD with Small Business of the Yearaward and Fort Payne Optimist Club with the Friend of Fort Payne award.
John Croyle, Founder of Big Oak Ranch, spoke to the crowd of over 170 about having a ‘Good Day’ and making a difference in the lives of others. We all left more inspired and hopefully ready to make a difference.
The banquet would not have been possible without the support of our Chamber Members and those who sponsored the event. I always encourage you to support our local businesses and especially those who support events through sponsorships.
Please congratulate our winners if you see them out and about, and, also thank thefollowing banquet sponsors:
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory, First Fidelity Bank, GH Metal Solutions, Fort Payne Improvement Authority, DC Gas, Twin City Used Cars, Farmers Telecommunications Corporation, First State Bank, Wilson & Fiquett, The City of Fort Payne and DeKalb Regional Medical Center. Also, individuals who purchased tickets to the event—THANK YOU!
The Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce acknowledged Scott Bateman’s 10 years of dedicated service to the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Vickie Bateman accepted the award on Scott’s behalf. We also recognized Wendy Holbrook and Tricia Shankles who ended their tenure on the Board of Directors.
Overall, the Chamber Awards Banquet helped make last Thursday a ‘Great Day’ for me, and I hope for others as well.
