Have you met Randy Grider? If not, you are in for a real treat. Randy will mesmerize you with his enthusiasm to promote our area.
Randy, a Rainsville native, has made his mark on the world of print. He has won 11 Alabama Press Awards for his work in turning around stagnant publications by redesigning and revamping the editorial content.
He has also won the 2005 Jesse H. Neal Ward which is considered the Pulitzer Prize of the business press.
Randy and his wife Olivia have decided to move back "home” to create the magazine Lookout Alabama.
The purpose of Lookout Alabama will be to celebrate, promote and preserve the unique culture, history and environmental treasures of the Lookout Mountain, Alabama region.
The magazine will debut with its summer issue in June. However, you can meet Randy and Olivia at Cook Castle for dinner on Friday, May 10 from 6-9 PM.
Special guests will include Homer Hickam, the author of the bestselling book, Rocket Boys. A major motion picture, October Sky, was also made from the book.
Nisa Miranda, University of Alabama Director of Economic Development will be the keynote speaker. Senator Clay Scofield, chair of the Alabama Tourism Department will present a check to the winner of the Lookout Alabama/SELTI writing contest.
Entertainment will be provided by the B Sharp Band. The proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Bread of Life program.
